The Angry SHOUT

I got so angry with a bus driver I shouted at him...his response was im not shouting at you why are you shouting at me....I replied if everyday you were ignored, disregarded and abused you would shout too.

The bus was busy so I took a seat some way back down the length, as I approached my stop I rang the bell, someone was waiting at the stop to get on so the driver dully pulled up.
As they got on the bus I stood up and moved down the aisle but no sooner had the new passenger got a sweaty grip on there bus ticket he was closing the doors..so I shout hang on A passenger rang the bell to get off,
You can understand why I was angry and maybe I needed to shout because he obviously didn't hear the bell indicating he had a passenger who wanted to get off either that or he was more interested in picking up a new passenger and getting on his way to the bus station for a brew than the welfare of the people he had on his bus.

It wasn't a good day for buss one drove straight passed my stop while I was talking to my daughter on the phone, its obvious I was distracted but I may have needed the bus as I was sitting at a bus stop would it have been that difficult or an inconvenience to stop and inquire if I wished to get on.

Sometimes you just have to cough loud

I had to cough loud to remind the driver that there was another passenger wanting to alight the bus today.

However the main problem I had was the driver moving the bus off before I had got to my seat thus I had to try and wave my way to a seat with my shopping bags in one hand and stick in the other.

Am I invisible

Today I got on the bus and sat four rows back from the front on the right hand side

It was a new electric bus and I didn't notice until I was near my stop to get off that there was not a bus bell within arms length of my seat fortunately someone else wanted to get off and they had access to a bell

As the bus had to navigate 2 sharp bends before the stop I made sure I stayed safe in my seat while two women staggered to the front of the bus

I figured with two people getting off I would have plenty of time to rise and walk to the front  however I was wrong

I was within three feet of the door when the driver closed it obviously I yelled out indicating that he had another passenger who wanted to get off  and he reopened them

But if he had take 2 seconds to check that no body else was moving down the isle to disembark he would have seen me and I would not have had to yell

He didn't even offer an apology

Welcome

Welcome to my blog, over the years I have traveled the length and breadth of this country by bus.

As a young girl I suffered from travel sickness and hated bus journeys.

As a young women I would cycle rather than spend my few earnings on bus fares.

When I had a young family I dreaded having to lug a pram, baby and shopping on to a bus (no low level pram friendly bus’s then)

Now aged 45 with dodgy knees and a need to travel each day to and fro via bus I have come to realise a few things about our lovely bus services.

In this blog I will document some of my more unusual journeys but most of all the disadvantages of traveling via bus when you are mobility impaired
